On behalf of the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce I would like to “Welcome you to Benton,” the town with a heart. Benton is unique from the perspective that although we have over twenty-seven thousand citizens, we still have a small town atmosphere — Benton personifies Americana at its finest. If you had to sum Benton up in two words, they would be ‘kids and community’. Our schools are among the best in the South, with ACT and SAT scores averaging well above the state and national norms. Academics are stressed at all grade levels in an effort to better prepare our children to compete on a global scale. School spirit, while high at all times, peaks during the fall as evidenced by the huge crowds that turn out for Panther football and basketball. The annual Salt Bowl game against Bryant drew over 23,000 local people to watch two local high school football teams. Whether it’s the athletic booster club, Habitat for Humanity, or Chamber volunteers, the citizens of Benton always turn out to help. Our community was instrumental in assisting over eight hundred hurricane evacuees last year. The Chamber has over fifty clubs and service organizations listed on our website. This sense of community also carries over into how our streets and highways look. Folks here take a great deal of pride in how their yards and lawns look. With all that said, again “Welcome to Benton.” Eddie Black Executive Director |
